Body language,
academically called “nonverbal language”, plays an important role in daily
communication and also affects how people judge others. Amy Cuddy, a social
psychologist, raises a view point that our nonverbal languages can alter our
psychological status. Amy takes testosterone and cortisol experiment for
example to illustrate this concept. Testosterone and cortisol are two hormones
related to power. Powerful people show high testosterone but low cortisol. In
the experiment, people change their gestures to pretend powerful for several
minutes leads to increment in testosterone and decrements in cortisol. It is
said that nonverbal language influences our mind. Moreover, Amy Cuddy shares her own experiences to reinforce her point of view and encourage the
audience who want to change their lives.
